Sheryl's cakes

Splashings on the web about food.
Sometimes people wonder what I do in London. Besides my full time job, I indulge in food and shoes... and hopefully some point further in my life, dance.

Apologies

This site requires minor twiggings. I'm a tech and html idiot and find it a complete feat just to accomplish what I have done, so please pardon me. If you have some tips of how I can improve, do let me know. Thanks!

Many new creations

I've updated the Singaporean Food Album with a lot more stuff!

Lately, I'm into making desserts. These are some of the desserts I've made:

Using choux pastry and pastry cream, I first made chocolate-filled mille feuille

Then I made my rendition of a Beard Papa cream puff and used the leftover chocolate cream from mille feuille to make Eclairs. I've no pictures of cream puffs though coz I was rushing over to Debbie's and Elsie's place. I did take a picture of the eclairs. (Again, would have added the chocolate coating if I was rushing.) Debbie said that it's the best eclair that she has tasted in the UK. :) I'm happy and flattered.

Last weekend, I decided to try my hand on making some warm chocolate cake for my Declan's friends' party. It failed terribly because it wasn't fluid chocolate on the inside. (The picture actually makes it look like a macaroon!) It did look pretty and tasted awesome with the praline and cream Ben&Jerry's ice cream. Everyone loved it, so it was good. Phew!

Yesterday was Riz's birthday and in a spur of the moment, I decided to try to make the warm chocolate again. This time its a great success. We had the waiters to serve out the mini cakes with green tea icecream, it just looked extremely good. I just wished I took more pictures. :( All of us were so excited about the birthday celebration and just gorging the cake that I forgot all about picture taking. No chocolate-oozing cake here, just a cake with the birthday boy. I must say that the chocolate and green tea ice cream combination way beats the vanilla ice cream.

More posts on the new breadmaker the next time....
